The company today
KORRES owes its name to the founder of the Greek skincare brand George Korres, who while still a student started mixing natural pharmacy ingredients to create herbal preparations, natural remedies and eventually cosmetic products.KORRES emerged in 1996 out of Athens’ first ever homeopathic pharmacy where George used to work; it still remains the city’s biggest pharmacy of its kind with a dedicated client following while also serving as an intense training school for all new KORRES team members. The first KORRES product was an aromatic herbal syrup with honey and aniseed, a recipe inspired by "rakomelon", a warming spirit-with-honey concoction, which George’s grandfather used to favour in his hometown on the island of Naxos. The first ever skincare product was the Wild Rose 24-hour cream – still a best-seller all over the world. Today the KORRES portfolio includes over 400 natural and certified organic products, featuring a skin & hair care range, a make-up line as well as suncare products and herbal preparations. All products are developed based on four groups of natural ingredients: herbs with pharmaceutical properties, Greek flora herbs, food ingredients and high-efficacy natural ingredients. The use of specific synthetic compounds such as petroleum derivatives, silicones, propylene glycol, ethanolamines and ammonia amongst others, is avoided and replaced with equally effective, beneficial and skin-friendly natural ingredients. The brand’s core values remain the same as in its pharmacy days – the use of herbs and natural ingredients of the highest quality; skin and environmentally friendly products with clinically tested efficacy; affordable for every day use yet of interesting aesthetics with strong artistic direction. The greatest company mission is the ongoing investment in research regarding new technologies and ingredients. KORRES is also involved in a number of high-profile partnerships including an ongoing cooperation with Athens University – the Pharmacology School – aiming to fully explore the attributes of the Greek flora; a partnership with the Chios Mastiha Growers Association and a long-running relationship with the Cooperative de Safran - Kozani Crocus, which is considered the world’s best quality saffron. The company today counts 23 stores in the cities of Athens, Paris, Madrid, Helsinki, Dubai, St.Petersburg, Prague, Barcelona and Singapore amongst others. KORRES can also be found at exclusive department stores in Tokyo, Los Angeles, Milan, Berlin, Sydney, New Delhi, Hong Kong and in over 6,000 pharmacies in its homeland, Greece.
